Principal Engineer, Firmware Engineering We are looking for a Security Firmware Engineer to join our SSD development team. The team's goal is to ensure that our SSD devices are designed and implemented to the highest security standards thus maintaining and enhancing customer trust. It delivers security solutions for worldwide firmware development team:

• Security Firmware for SSD products
• HSM-based Security Infrastructure for SSD manufacturing
• Internal security audit of SSD Firmware implementation
• External certification of SSD security features with 3rd-party authorities ESSENTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and develop Security Firmware for SSD storage devices. We work with hardware controllers and emulators, embedding security features in ROM and in RTOS-managed firmware of multiple products
  • Implement security tools for SSD firmware build, manufacturing and RMA. We apply local and HSM signing for multiple SSD firmware development and management flows
  • Analyze security of hardware and firmware components of SSD devices. Identify security risks and work with product engineers to create mitigations REQUIRED:
    • BSEE, BSCE, or BSCS (MSEE, MSCE, MSCS preferred) or equivalent
    • Proficiency in firmware & software programming (C/C++, Assembly, Python, Java)
    • Experience with hardware security, authentication and security protocols, cryptography
    • Knowledge of RTOS and microprocessor architecture, experience debugging firmware issues using JTAG and/or protocol traces
    • Experience working in development team that delivered commercial hardware devices PREFERRED:
      • Knowledge of hardware security mechanisms, including secure boot, trusted execution environments
      • Knowledge of security protocols for storage devices: TCG Opal, Pyrite, IEEE 1667 (eDrive), ATA Security
      • Experience and knowledge of PKI, HSM, and Signing Servers
      • Experience with threat modeling, penetration testing and fuzzing techniques to discover and exploit identified vulnerabilities The future. It's on you. You & Western Digital.
