are looking for an exceptional Senior Laser Engineer to join our
innovative product development engineering team at Spectra-Physics,
which is Lasers Business Unit of MKS Instruments. We push the
boundaries of technology to develop a wide range of nanosecond,
picosecond, and femtosecond lasers that address the needs of
Industrial, Scientific, and Life and Health markets. In this
position, you will contribute to the development of new
technologies and optical designs of free-space and fiber-based
laser systems. You will work collaboratively within a project team
and use your communication skills to work effectively with
cross-functional team members.What you will do is:
- Engineer laser oscillators, amplifier and harmonic conversion
modules through experimentation and modeling into innovative
products that solve our customers most pressing challenges
- Define test strategies, build, test and document system
prototypes, create reports, and generate design documentation and
transfer the design to production
- Work in a multi-disciplinary team and interact with Electrical,
Mechanical, Software and Manufacturing Engineers on Work with
optical component vendors for component procurement, and
performance and reliability evaluationWhat you will bring to the
team, along with your curiosity, is:
- BS degree and 4+ years industry experience or MS and 2+ years
industry experience
- Experience designing and building optical systems and
free-space beam alignment of laser oscillators or amplifiers
- Ability to set up and perform measurements, evaluate the
results, and clearly communicate the conclusions to the development
team
- Knowledge of how to choose and utilize appropriate optical
measurement instrumentationIf you have familiarity with any of the
following, please let us know:
- Industrial optical product development
- Troubleshooting and failure analysis of optical modules and
systems
- Hand on expirience with ultra-fast (fs) lasers and techniques
(mode-locking, CPA)
- Gaussian beam propagation and ray-tracing software
- Harmonic generation (SHG, SFG) and nonlinear crystals
- Acousto-optic or electro-optic modulators As MKS is a federal
