thing in data.Job DescriptionWe are looking for an enthusiastic
software engineer that is familiar with embedded firmware
development. The role is to develop firmware that will power
Western Digital's next-generation security platform. You will
contribute at all levels of the firmware stack from low-level SPI
and HID interfaces all the way up to the application business
logic.Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Design, architect, and write efficient embedded firmware code
using Rust and C.
- Work with embedded operating systems and custom
- Interact with various hardware peripherals on both RISC-V and
- Maintain firmware codebase, fix bugs, and improve performance
for new and existing products.
- Write clear, readable, and defensive code to allow easy and
efficient team collaboration.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure high quality.
- Keep code documentation up to date, clear and concise.
- Provide input for firmware development time and effort
- Comfortable working in a fast paced, highly collaborative,
virtual work environment.Qualifications
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or
- 3+ years of experience using Rust and/or C.
- 2+ years of experience in embedded software development.
- Proven understanding of RISC-V and/or ARM platforms.
- Proven understanding of HID, I2C, SPI, and UART
- Experience with Kotlin and/or Java is an asset.
- Hands-on experience with embedded operating systems such as
TockOS is an asset.
- General understanding of secure boot, digital signatures, and
certificates is an asset.
- Proficient using source code control and automated build
- Ability to read and understand datasheets, electrical diagrams,
hardware specifications, and product requirements documents to
assess impact on software design.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and creative thinking
- Strong commitment to technical quality and proper documentation
during all phases of development.
- Excellent communication skills; interact with suppliers, senior
management, and other team members professionally, in writing, in
person, and virtually, as necessary.Additional InformationWestern

- An employee's pay position within the salary range may be based
on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant
