Job Summary Northland is the go-to global integrator for some of the largest, most complex, security system deployments in the world, delivered by the Professional Services Business Unit. The Business Unit (BU) has revenue of $10m p/a with circa 40 world-class, highly skilled security Application Engineers and Technical Project Manager across the Americas, APAC, and EMEA. The 5-year strategy to grow the BU to $25m is key to Northlands long-term success, as is positioning Professional Services as the global leader within the industry.

The Director, Professional Services encompasses the direct management of the following departments: Technical Engineering and Performance Engineering. The Technical Engineering Team delivers high-level, complex, security programs including system deployments and cutovers, cloud migrations, hardening, encryption, data reporting, integrations with various business applications, and development & implementation of custom solutions. Performance Engineering Services includes full-time Application Engineering operations, device lifecycle and vulnerability management, system optimization and risk remediation, security infrastructure audits and mitigation reviews, general end-user support, and system maintenance.

The Director, Professional Services is responsible for global product alignment and delivery; including but not limited to, P&L responsibility, pricing, processes, resource management, standards, reporting, training standards, tools, and applications. The position will work in coalition with the CTO and Northlands Labs in setting Northlands long-term technology roadmap.

The Director, Professional Services is also responsible for ensuring appropriate management and customer involvement of the overall Professional Services portfolio, and the position requires excellent customer management and communication.

The position will oversee their regional middle management who, in turn, has a dotted reporting line to the Regional (AMER, APAC, EMEA) General Managers/Managing Director. Cross-regional collaboration within the mixed matrix organization is key to the success of the BU.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and professionally with other teams/groups/departments in Northlands organization, including Consultancy, Integration, Service, Managed Services, Procurement, Finance, Information Technology, and Human Resources. The inability to demonstrate such ability will result in disqualification from consideration.

The ideal candidate must possess the ability to lead, motivate, and encourage camaraderie amongst team members; communicate effectively with senior management, and have a clear vision of what determines a successful solution for the customer and for the company.

QUALIFICATIONS

Strong Financial Acumen including direct P&L responsibility.

Hands-on experience in setting up a Professional Services organization.

Fundamental, in-depth understanding and working knowledge of security systems.

Extensive experience designing and building architecture for Enterprise Systems.

In-depth knowledge of cloud technology, high availability, and high-volume environments.

Previous experience in delivering effective project management, estimating resource requirements and timelines, managing, and tracking multiple projects simultaneously, and delivering on commitments.

DUTIES

This position is responsible for establishing the Professional Services organization as a center of excellence.

Accountable for overall profitability at a BU, department, team, and customer account level

Accountable for defining the Professional Services process, standards, deliverables, and operational cadence necessary to ensure consistent project delivery.

Oversee Application Engineering Managers (AMER, APAC, and EMEA) and collaborate with various departments to continually build an innovative, world-class, highly integrated Engineering team , ensuring that targeted utilization is achieved. The position is also responsible for monitoring overall customer satisfaction.

Will assist with revenue forecasting, backlog and pipeline management as well as ensuring customer funding (Purchase Orders) and SOW billings occur for all Northland Professional Services.

Work with Application Engineering Managers to oversee and balance workload and assignments.

Work closely with all groups in the organization to resolve service delivery issues with a continuous focus on maximizing productivity.

Ensure development of all managers, PS resources, Application Engineers under the Professional Services umbrella including appropriate certifications and training as part of a comprehensive development plan.

Ensure all members of the Professional Services organization understand their roles and accept their responsibilities.

Regularly track progress on all Professional Services efforts and provide updates to executives as requested.

Manage deliverables through a structured change management process to ensure customer expectations are met while protecting Northland revenue objectives.

Demonstrated experience with continuous business improvement processes.

Final accountability/responsibility for the delivery of Professional Services including final decision making when conflicts arise between BUs that have stakes in Professional Services projects.
