Job Summary


Involves the provision of treatment designed to facilitate the process of recovery from mental illness, substance abuse, or physical limitations to as normal a condition as possible. Includes the disciplines of vocational rehabilitation. Provides direct vocational rehabilitative services to mentally ill adults who often also suffer from substance abuse disorders, and/or physical limitations. Works with clients to identify employment interests, assess work skills, coach them through the application process, work with employers to identify potential jobs for clients, and support employees and employers to solve problems to help retain employment.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range. Department Description

Citywide Case Management Programs is a Division of the UCSF/ZSFG Department of Psychiatry, located at 1263 Mission Street, San Francisco. Its mission is to provide behavioral health intensive case management services to adults who suffer from serious mental illness, co-occurring substance abuse disorder, and chronic medical conditions, and experience significant systemic determinants of health, including justice-involvement or other forms of institutionalization, poverty, and housing instability.



Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation or a related field AND one (1) year or more years of relevant experience OR five (5) or more years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of a rehabilitation service and ability to apply concepts to operations in an acute care setting.
  • Experience in job development and employment counseling.
  • Able to set priorities, organize time accordingly and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a high-stress and high-volume environment including setting priorities, organizing time accordingly, and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communications skills including the ability to follow oral and written instructions and be detailed oriented. Able to efficiently prepare written summaries and reports of activities within required timelines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with others, to achieve common goals within a culturally diverse setting.
  • Provide excellent customer service orientation to quickly address questions and/or issues.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and climb stairs.
  • Excellent attendance and reliability are essential.
  • Ability to work onsite in our SF office located at 1263 Mission Street.
