Job Description:

• Work with multiple functions to define ESSD ASIC Architectures for future generations driving the ASIC roadmap to deliver leading solutions aligned with our customer requirements and industry transitions.
• Engage with Marketing/Customers, Systems Architecture and other business stakeholders to understand the product requirements and features as well as key dates and timing. Develop a deep understanding of the applications and associated challenges limiting higher product value, lead innovation and breakthrough features to deliver an enhanced customer experience and value.
• Analyze competitive data and project future features, performance and cost points by product generations to create and sustain a leading position.
• Explore all aspects of ASIC and related technologies to align ASIC Architectures with advanced technologies at the best intercept points to enable differentiated and leading products.
• Use state of the art tools and methodologies for Architecture exploration and performance verification while simultaneously working on shift-left development process for improved TTM.
• Mange the ESSD Architecture team to define, verify and synthesize ASIC architectures, delivering clear concise Architecture specifications and guiding the design implementation to achieve the architecture intent in all areas. Develop and acquire the talent and skills necessary for the team to fulfill their mission and charter, leading in their respective domains. REQUIRED:
  • MSEE with a minimum of 15+ years experience with embedded system SoC ASIC design and development in leadership positions and roles. Proven ASIC architecture leadership through successful customer product launches with targeted best in class performance, features cost or other critical success factors.
  • Experience and in-depth understanding of enterprise storage systems utilizing solid state technologies (SSD/FLASH). Solid foundation in FLASH technology aspects and system considerations, knowledge of data protection, ECC and security aspects. Knowledge and experience with Embedded processor CPU cores and subsystems.
  • Applications knowledge including but not limited to the following areas, PCIe Gen4-5 / NVMe / ZNS / DDR 4-5 / SMBUS / I2C / TM IO / LDPC / JTAG / NOC (AXI) / CPU's (RISK-V, ARM, ARC---)
  • Proven leadership experience with small to medium size teams, managing across global regions and locations, ability to acquire and develop talent and skills necessary to deliver on a team mission and charter. Strong background in adopting best in class process and methodologies with a continuous improvement to deliver both quality and TTM.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills working across multiple functions both internal and external technology partners and developers. The future. It's on you. You & Western Digital.
