community, come join ours. About this role The Head of Tax will
lead Faire’s global tax function, with responsibility for tax
business strategy, income tax reporting and compliance, indirect
tax, and international tax. Reporting to the CFO, this leader will:
Ensure timely, accurate, and well-controlled global compliance
Oversee ASC 740 reporting and support evolving public company
readiness Proactively manage tax risk across jurisdictions Partner
across Finance, Legal, Treasury, Product, and executive leadership
This is a high-impact role. The right leader will combine deep
technical expertise with strong business judgment and
cross-functional influence. This role requires a hands-on leader
who is comfortable operating as a player-coach in a high-growth
environment. What you’ll do 1. Global Tax Leadership Own and lead
all aspects of Faire’s global tax function that scales with our
global marketplace operations, including: U.S. federal, state, and
international income tax ASC 740 tax provision and financial
statement reporting Indirect tax (sales & use tax, VAT/GST,
marketplace facilitator regimes, digital services taxes) Transfer
pricing and international structuring 2. Compliance & Controls
Oversee global tax compliance and filings across all jurisdictions.
Strengthen systems, processes, and internal controls to support
growth and increasing complexity. Partner closely with Accounting
on quarterly and annual reporting, audits, and documentation. 3.
Marketplace & Product Partnership Advise on tax implications of new
product launches, cross-border seller and buyer flows, geographic
expansion, and new business initiatives. Partner with Product and
Engineering to design scalable, compliant solutions embedded into
the customer experience. Help balance tax risk, regulatory
complexity, and business velocity in a pragmatic manner. 4. Tax
Business Advisory Advise executive leadership on structural
decisions, international expansion, and equity compensation.
Monitor global legislative and regulatory developments impacting
digital marketplaces and proactively assess their implications.
Support longer-term capital markets and public company readiness
initiatives. 5. Team Leadership Lead and develop an established tax
team, operating as a player coach Attract, retain, and mentor
strong tax talent. Qualifications 15 years of progressive tax
experience, including public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and
in-house leadership. Deep expertise in ASC 740, U.S. federal and
state income tax, international tax, and indirect tax. Experience
operating in a complex, multi-jurisdictional environment.
Experience in a global e-commerce or marketplace business is
strongly preferred. CPA or JD required; advanced tax degree a plus.
Experience supporting public company reporting requirements or IPO
readiness is a plus. Track record of improving processes,
automation, and internal controls at scale. Ability to translate
complex tax matters into clear, actionable guidance. Proven
experience leading and scaling tax teams. Comfort taking positions
on complex, judgmental issues. Salary Range San Francisco: The pay
range for this role is $ 260,000 to $ 357,500 per year. This role
will also be eligible for equity and benefits. Actual base pay will
be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable
skills, work experience, market demands, and primary work location.
The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be
modified in the future. Hybrid Faire employees currently go into
the office 3 days per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and a third flex
day of their choosing (Monday, Wednesday, or Friday). Additionally,
hybrid in-office roles will have the flexibility to work remotely
up to 4 weeks per year. Specific Workplace and Information
Technology positions may require onsite attendance 5 days per week
