Job Description Job Description Position Summary We are seeking reliable and safety-focused Vehicle Operator Assistant to support advanced driver-assistance and supervised automated driving technology in real-world ride-share environments. In this role, you will serve as the link between passengers and automated driving systems—ensuring smooth, safe, and comfortable trips while providing valuable feedback to enhance system performance. This position requires strong customer service skills, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively in dynamic and fast-changing environments. Domestic travel may be required based on testing needs. A flexible schedule is essential, including at least one weekend day and availability for day, swing, or night shifts. Job Title: Automated Vehicle Driver Location: San Francisco, CA Job Type: Full-Time Base Pay: $25.25 per hour (Shift differentials apply: 10% for Swing and Graveyard shifts) Schedules Available: Friday–Tuesday Wednesday–Sunday Thursday–Monday Shift Options: Swing / Night Shifts: Night B: 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM (10% differential) Night C: 5:30 PM – 2:00 AM (10% differential) Graveyard Shifts: Graveyard B: 12:00 AM – 8:30 AM (10% differential) Graveyard C: 1:30 AM – 10:00 AM (10% differential) Key Responsibilities Operate engineering vehicles equipped with supervised automated driving technology during 6–8 hour shifts with a strong emphasis on rider safety Manage rider interactions, including greetings, navigation adjustments, and addressing passenger questions or concerns Monitor system performance in diverse environments such as construction zones, pedestrian-heavy areas, and high-traffic routes Perform pre-shift vehicle readiness checks, including safety inspections, sensor calibration, and software status verification Travel domestically as needed to support testing in various cities and weather conditions Document observations, system behavior, and issues in detailed daily driving reports Provide feedback to improve processes, enhance rider experience, and support high-quality data collection Qualifications Valid California driver’s license Proof of personal vehicle insurance Clean driving record Strong situational awareness with the ability to identify and react to potential hazards Excellent written and verbal communication skills Tech-savvy with strong PC skills, especially within Microsoft Office Ability to work overtime as needed (not guaranteed) Must comply with all requirements for safety-sensitive positions, including applicable drug testing policies Company Description Balance Staffing is a full-service staffing agency that aims to unite talented and hardworking people with excellent workplaces, while building lasting relationships with our employees and our clients.
